Terminology

The Nyingarn Workspace is a place for users to create items and collections and curate their resources.

An item is a manuscript or a section of a larger manuscript. An item has a name which is a sequence of letters, numbers and underscores and must begin with a letter. Within an item, you will upload your manuscript images and transcriptions. See below a workspace screenshot of item Bates36 from the Daisy Bates Collection.

A resource is a group of files corresponding to a manuscript page. You will upload an image of a manuscript page (preferably in tiff format) and the workspace will create formats suitable for display on the web (e.g. jpeg), a thumbnail and a TEI transcription. The set of files is the resource.

A collection is a group of manuscript items. Items can be grouped by a language or linguistic-collector, for example.
